2026 PineWood Derby Results

2026 PineWood Derby Results

We had some fierce competition in 2026 Pinewood Derby. The difference between our fastest and second-fastest car was four-tenths of a second. The difference between second and third was 18 thousandths of a second. The difference between first and last was only 2.7 seconds.

Every Cub Scout, regardless of how their car performed, did a great job. Everyone showed great sportsmanship and incredible creativity in their builds.

Below you’ll find overall standings, results by rank, and individual heat times for every racer.

Pack 459 Honors Our Veterans

Pack 459 Honors Our Veterans

Pack 459 performed an important Good Turn this Veterans Day, participating in a Lee VFW cemetery cleanup to honor the service members who protected our freedoms.

We reminded the Scouts of the significance of their service through the words of President Abraham Lincoln, who called upon citizens to “care for his brother in the field.”

By respectfully retiring the flags and maintaining the grounds, our Scouts demonstrated reverence, a key tenet of the Scout Law. As Scouting founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell taught, “The most worthwhile thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others.”

The Scouts worked diligently and respectfully, bringing that “happiness” and honor to the resting place of our local heroes and their families. We are incredibly proud of their service!

Lego Derby Open House

Lego Derby Open House

Pack 459 held a LEGO Derby Open House last night at Lee Church Congregational and we met a lot of new potential Cub Scouts and their families. The kids built cars out of LEGO using special weighted Pinewood-Derby-style wheel kits. If fun can be measured by the volume of cheering at the end of each race, then I think it’s safe to say that a good time was had by all.
Summer Camp 2025

Summer Camp 2025

Summer Camp 2025

Last year we had just a single leader and a Wolf Cub attend Camp Carpenter. This year, we had 11 Scouts representing all ranks, 5 leaders, and 2 fantastic Den Chiefs from Boy Scout Troop 459. Our Cub Scout program is growing and thriving in Lee, New Hampshire!

We fired rounds at the BB range, did a bit of group yoga, built egg drop devices, learned life-saving at the waterfront, hit bullseyes at the archery range, assembled circuits, played a round of mini golf, went down a backwoods waterslide, visited Fort Friendship, met firefighters, shared campfire stories, learned the ways of pirates at Pirates Cove, ate great BBQ, and performed skits the closing fire!

Our Arrow of Light Scouts (Cubs going into 5th grade) participated in the Trailblazer’s program. They canoed, shot compound bows at a variety of targets, cooked their lunch over a fire, repelled down a boulder, and worked together to complete a ropes course. Scouting has given them an experience today they can’t get anywhere else.

If you’re interested in providing your kids with these sorts of hands-on, real-world experiences, visit the Join Our Pack page and a member of our leadership team will be in touch with you.

Camp Fees Covered by NH’s Rekindling Curiosity Program

Camp Fees Covered by NH’s Rekindling Curiosity Program

If you’re interested in sending your Cub Scout to summer camp, the NH Department of Education has a program called Rekindling Curiosity that gives every kid the opportunity to attend summer camp.

This program offers:

  • $775 for students with qualifying disabilities, including learning disabilities and autism
  • $625 for families with incomes under 250% the FPL
  • $475 for families with incomes under 400% the FPL

That math works out like this:

Camp Carpenter is $600 for members of the Daniel Webster Council (that’s every member of our Pack) so this program can make camp completely free or reduce your cost to $125.

Please contact Rekindling@doe.nh.gov if you have any question about applying for the program.

If your Cub is interested in attending camp this year, please email cubmaster@pack459.com.

Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

What a great day at Little River Park!

We had eight Cub Scouts earn their eclipse emblems and a great time was had by everyone in attendance—which seemed like half the town.

Cubs now have an opportunity for service by collecting used eclipse glasses and dropping them off in the Pack 459 boxes at the Lee Public Library or the Lee Transfer Station.
