Lee Cub Scouts removed over 80lbs of trash from Little River Park in Spring of 2025.

What do Cub Scouts do?

Cub Scouts isn’t just about earning badges—it’s about helping kids grow into confident and compassionate young people.

In Pack 459, your child will:

Develop New Skills

From learning first aid to building a Pinewood Derby car, they’ll learn new things they can use for the rest of their lives.

Gain Confidence

By earning achievements and taking on new challenges, they’ll build self-esteem and a belief in their own abilities.

Make New Friends

They will be part of a supportive group where they can connect with other kids and have a blast doing it.

Become a Leader

They’ll have opportunities to take on new responsibilities and learn what it means to be a leader, preparing them for future success.

So, how do we do all that?

We use a few key methods to make our program fun and effective:

Den and Pack Activities

Kids are grouped by grade into Dens, which meet twice a month. These smaller groups are where the real work happens—they play games, complete projects, and work on skills for their rank advancement.

Once a month, all the Dens come together as a Pack for a fun-filled meeting with larger activities, guest speakers, or special events. For example, we have a LEGO Derby in October, a visit from Wildlife Encounters in November, and will later be learning first aid from the Explorer Scouts.

The Outdoors

A huge part of Scouting is getting outside.

Our Cubs enjoy nature through adventures like hiking, visiting the Great Bay Discovery Center, gazing at stars at the UNH observatory, and spending 5 days at Camp Carpenter, the Scouting New Hampshire dedicated Cub Scout camp.

We believe that spending time in nature not only teaches kids new skills but also helps them appreciate the world around them.

Community Service

We teach our Cubs the importance of being good citizens by giving back to our community.

Last year, our Pack collected 80 lbs of trash from Little River Park, made dinners for the Wilkinson Food Pantry, planted a community vegetable garden, cleaned up veterans’ graves, and marched in the Memorial Day Parade.

We’ve found that when kids give back, it helps them feel a deeper connection to their community.

Personal Growth

Kids in our Pack work on different “adventures” each year, focusing on things like Character & Leadership, Outdoors, Personal Fitness, and Citizenship. By completing these, they earn their next rank and build new skills along the way.

Last year, nearly every Cub in our Pack earned their rank advancement, which is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
